MARIETTA, Okla. – A Love County jury has found Ricky Rawlins, Jr. guilty of assault and battery with a deadly weapon for a second time.

Rawlins was tried and convicted of shooting of a 12-year-old boy in 2004. That decision was appealed and later thrown out on a technicality.

The jury deliberated for more than five hours Tuesday night before returning the verdict shortly after midnight.

Rawlins shot and severely wounded a 12-year-old Jacob Ayers in 2003, who was riding in a vehicle with his parents. The boy’s mother was attempting to serve Rawlins’ younger brother with court papers when the shooting occurred.

The recommended sentence is ten years in prison.

With the exception of Gary Lumpkin, our state court of appeals are either the most liberal, or the most stupid in the U.S. I wish these juries would slam dunk these violent offenders remanded for retrial, and send a message to the predators in prison, and on the bench of our court of appeals, that we are fed up.

This was a great waste of time. Rawlins deserves to rot in jail. His actions were horrid. He changed the lives of not only an innocent child, but a family forever. All for nothing. He is just wasting good air for someone who needs it.

Can't believe his appeal made it as far as it did. What a waste of tax money! Send him to the big house and make him wear the pink underpants like the Sheriff in South Texas!
