SHERMAN, Tex. -- One of three men accused of sexually assaulting a Sherman woman found guilty of the crime Friday.

A Grayson county jury found 19-year-old Jason Edward Whitten guilty of aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping, both first degree felonies.

Police say in May, Whitten and two other men broke into the woman's home and sexually assaulted her several times.

Whitten's sentencing began late Friday afternoon. The punishment phase is expected to wrap up by the middle of next week.

If found guilty he could face up to 99 years in prison.

Stacy, I am sorry that your family is having to go through this but your brother did an awful thing to this girl and he needs to pay for his actions. I know people can change but look at the crime. They just went to rob this house and they ended up taking their turns raping this girl. Why on God's green earth do you think he won't do something like this again? He needs to sit in prison for the rest of his life and think about what he has done. Just think about if it was your sister that someone done this to. Would you want them walking the streets scott free?

Stacy, I feel for the hard time you are going through. But I wouldn't trust your brother or those other boys around my friends and family if he was out of jail. I also have heard how he treats and speaks to the officers at Grayson Co. Jail and it isn't an example of a fine upstanding citizen. He has a lesson to learn and prison is where he needs to learn it. Hopefully he stays locked away for a long time.

I am glad to see this sick individual was found guilty. Now hopefully he is put away for a long time or even better for good. It was a very cowardly thing that he done to this girl so lets just see how tough he is when he gets in jail with the big boys. He will probably find out first hand how the girl felt when he was raping her. Not to make excuses for him but drugs might have made him want to rob someone but they didn't make him rape this girl.
