BONHAM, Tex. -- Some Bonham residents got a blast from their past Wednesday afternoon by digging up a time capsule that was buried on the grounds of the public library.
The time capsule was buried 26 years ago as part of their summer reading program. It contained letters, newspaper clippings, and other artifacts from the program.
The children wrote letters to themselves in the future. Some said they wanted to be a baton twirler, a truck driver, or even a Jedi knight when they grew up.
"The children are grown now, and they're bringing their own children back for our summer reading program. So we thought before everyone really gets old and moves away that we would open it," Bonham librarian Barbara McCutcheon says.
Librarians say they hope to plant another time capsule during their summer reading program this year.
