ARDMORE,Okla. -- It was an open house of sorts at the Ardmore Fire Department on Wednesday.
Firefighters got a chance to meet the media and have lunch, after demonstrating rescue techniques and showing off some of the heavy equipment.
Officials say events like this are beneficial for everyone in the community.
"Basically what we're trying to do is just have a day where the local news media come out and participate in some of the things we do, first of all just to help build a rapport between our agencies. Secondly, so that they can get an opportunity to be on the other side of the camera
for a change, and see first hand what it is exactly that we do," said Scott Richards, Shift Commander for Ardmore Fire Department.
This is second year the fire department has put on their "Media Day".
