FANNIN COUNTY, TX - Weather may very well be to blame for a collision involving a Fannin County Sheriff's Deputy.

The crash happened just after 7:00 p.m. on Highway 56 just east of Bonham.

Sheriff Kenneth Moore says the deputy was headed to an accident when he hydroplaned and hit a fence.

There was damage to the car, but the deputy wasn't seriously hurt.

If you want to read what small minded people write, check out the KTEN reports on any subject. I'm talking small minded and never fair or balanced. Law enforcement officers are not all Barney Fifes! Accidents happen and I hope he gets to recover before he has to go back to hell in Iraq.

I'm disappointed that Channel 12, who I normally consider to be fair and reputable, would post the comments that aren't constructive to the story above. Small minded people bashing the people who put their life on the line, both on the street and over seas. How could their sarcastic and otherwise needless comments possibly benefit anyone reading the story?

I am a friend of the deputy and was at the same location as he within minutes before the wreck. He was at a child's birthday party when he got called to report to an accident. This young man is a Marine (the best of the best) and is leaving in two weeks to go to Iraq to serve a third tour for your freedom. Having an accident doesn't qualify him as a bad cop, nor does it mean he thinks he's above the law. HE WAS IN ROUTE TO AN ACCIDENT. For those of you who are nice enough to be concerned for his safety and well-being, he is doing okay... just very sore.

I for one am glad no one was hurt. Deputy or not... Some people just wish ill on law enforcement and that's not right. He was out there doing his job. We need to remember those who work dangerous jobs, ie: firefighters, police, construction / highway workers, soldiers, are someones loved ones. Regardless of what you think of the law, we want them to come home safe.
