SHERMAN, Tex. -- A Dallas man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison by a Grayson County judge Friday morning.

Errick Cheeks, 36, was pulled over in October of 2006 along Highway 75 in Denison. Inside the car, authorities found almost four kilograms of cocaine.

Assistant district attorney Brett Smith says Cheeks will serve at least ten years before he is eligible for parole.

Cheeks will be held at a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility.

No, only in Oklahoma can you murder someone or beat your wife and walk free. Just cause Texoma is one word doesn't mean the states share a court system. That's A LOT of coke that's not gonna get distributed. Congrats on a job well done Grayson County!

40 years isn't too much time. It's possible that this wasn't his first offense & it shows that Grayson County isn't going to sit quietly & slap the hand of drug dealers. Keep GC drug free! Way to go judge.

The guy got jail time- he deserved it. Should keep him out of business for a long time. DOn't know who the judge was, but a big thank you to him or her.

40 years?? In Durant there are four people I can think of that had murder charges against them that are free walking the streets. Only in Texoma do you go down for dang near your whole life for drugs, but can murder someone or beat your wife and walk free? A little weird huh?

Some drunk driver who kills other innocent drivers do not this kind of time. To me a drunk driver is much more dangerous to public citizens than some drug dealer. Still he deserves the time; just comparing to drunk drivers; I wish drunk drivers would get punished like they should: Life in prison!

Unless this guy was selling it???? What else do you think he was going to do with it? I believe a Kilo is about 2 1/2 pounds, so this guy had about 10 pounds. Cocaine is generally sold by the gram, so that equals about 4,000 grams. That is ALOT of Cocaine.

How much is 4 Kilograms? Unless this guy was selling it.. 40 years seems very excessive. I'm thinking rehab in a drug program would be a lot cheaper for us taxpayers who have to support him now to the tune of at least 30K a year to keep him in prison.
