MARSHALL COUNTY, OK - A topic not discussed in the open forum at the Marshall County legislative breakfast was Ardmore's hopes for a branch university campus.

That bill has been hotly debated this session, but managed to pass the Senate and is now pending in conference committee.

"I have grave concerns about it, especially as it relates to Murray College. And like I said the bill passed over my objections and we'll see what happens"

Senator Gumm represents District 6, which does not include Ardmore.

You don't think ECU or Ardmore would pull a fast one to get the lower division classes? Kudos to Senator Gumm for looking out for his district, which includes Murray and Southeastern.

Why is it when we have a chance for a change..it is looked down upon? We have more than plenty of bars and grills and banks...make room for the university, Ardmore! Bringing the college branch would be a huge improvement!!! The news reports others have "grave concerns..." what does this mean.. why wasn't that explained better..

Ardmore needs a drug rehab to help out all those crack heads. Ardmore should be more concerned with their students learning personnal hygene. Lets just put a dad gum univeristy in every town in Oklahoma. Whoop!

They may have said Murray will offer those classes, then why don't they put it in writing.

Ardmore needs a four year institution. The facts are that Ardmore is the largest city in Oklahoma with out one. Ada, Durant, and Tishomingo to name a few all are smaller cities than Ardmore but they have one.

Senator Gumm needs to be concerned with his own district rather than to concern himself with what goes on over here. Shame on him for trying to kill the bill that would benefit the community in this area. They already said that MSC would still be here to offer the 2yr courses unless ECU pulls a fast one and takes over everything.
