PRINCETON, Tex. -- What was initially thought to be an accidental fire that killed a woman in Collin County is now a murder investigation.

Collin county sheriff's officials say Steven Michael Doyle is behind bars charged with the murder of his wife, 54-year-old Mary Sue Doyle.

The Princeton Fire Department responded to a call of a home fully involved on Saturday. The man told firefighters he and his wife just returned from a trip and were very tired.

The autopsy revealed a gunshot wound to the head.

Doyle voluntarily came to the Collin County Sheriff's Office on Monday and admitted to being upset with his wife and shooting her in the back of the head with a .22-caliber handgun. He also admitted to using gasoline to set the house on fire.

Doyle is being held at the Collin County Detention Center on a $750,000 bond.
