CALLISBURG, Tex. -- A man is facing charges Tuesday night after leading police on a high speed chase on a motorcycle. It started around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in Sherman.

Officials say a Grayson County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the 20-year-old Frisco man for not having a license plate on his motorcycle, but the man fled north on Highway 75 into Denison, then south back into Sherman, then on Highway 82 west into Gainesville, all while reaching speeds of 130 miles per hour.

The man wrecked on FM 2896 in Callisburg, north of U.S. 82, where authorities caught up with him.

The suspect now faces charges of evading with a vehicle, reckless driving, deadly conduct, and driving without a valid license or without insurance.

His name has not yet been released.

I HEARD THE THING ON THE SCANNER, THE COPS SAID THERE CARS WERE TOPPING OUT AT 115 MPH, WHEN THE ARRESTING OFFICER CALLED IN THAT HE HAD CRASHED THE DISPATCHER IMMEDIATELY PAGED EMS, THEN THE COP CAME BACK AND SAID THAT ALL HE HAD WAS A SCRAPE. THAT KID WAS DANG LUCKY AND STUPID AT THE SAME TIME, HAVE TO ADMIT I THINK THE COOKE COUNTY POLICE DID A GOOD JOB THOUGH.

TO "OUTLAW BIKES" You know when older people retire they like to get on there big gold wing and just ride on really nice days. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE IDIOTS OUT THERE WE ARE NOT ALL THAT WAY. YES BIKES ARE DANGEROUS BUT ITS MORE DANGEROUS FOR THE BIKERS THEN IT IS YOU BECAUSE PEOPLE IN VEHICLES DONT PAY ATTENTION TO BIKERS. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOME KIDS THAT MOM AND DAD BOUGHT A FAST MOTORCYCLE FOR DOESNT MEAN THAT BIKES SHOULD BE OUTLAWED so sit on your porch on a nice day and I will wave at you when my husband and i pass your house!!!lol

i saw a part of the chase coming south from denison towards sherman and i feel that it was totally rediculous for the sheriffs department to put so many peoples lives in danger as well as their own just to stop a lunatic for no license plate! no ones life is worth that!

Posted by: cop4life Location: Ardmore on May 15, 2008 at 02:44 AM
Be glad you don't live in Ardmore. He would have been allowed to drive and do whatever he pleased. Ardmore police can't chase people for non-violent crimes. I hope the police chief's wife doesn't get in a crash with a drunk driver because the police had to watch him drive away.

I have drove down hwy 75 before and someone pass me and I look up and there is a motorcyclepassing on the should now that is real smart or they will weave in and out of traffic and almost hit someone and why is it that people drive cars have to wear seat belts but these idiots on the motorcycles don't have to wear helmets makes no sense at all

Posted by: Anonymous on May 14, 2008 at 10:17 PM
I was traveling south on 75 and saw this person on the opposite side and then a few minutes later he passed me like I was standing still. This person needs to be prosecuted and loose his driving priveleges. He put everyones life in danger!

you stupid people get a life, the young man was just scared.

I know his brother and he is diving a motorcycle with no license

Posted by: Anonymous Location: G-ville on May 14, 2008 at 02:20 PM
canttellya, sounds to me like your the kind of person who breaks the law and doesn't expect to get in trouble. Well I hope you get caught soon enough, because I don't want anyone hurt by your recklessness. This guy needed to be caught or he would have continued to be careless and he would have eventually killed himself or someone else.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Ardmore on May 14, 2008 at 01:25 PM
Maybe he should have been in Ardmore, the Police Chief has implemented a new policy that has been broadcast all over the news that police officers are not allowed to pursue anyone anymore. The guy would have gotten away no problem.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 14, 2008 at 12:41 PM
that funny

Posted by: JC Location: Denison on May 14, 2008 at 11:38 AM
canttellya: Motorcyclist just need to obey the law like everyone else; then everything would be "cool"

Posted by: anon Location: sherman on May 14, 2008 at 11:20 AM
might want to check herald democrat's website kxii, cause they had the name of the guy since yesterday afternoon....

Posted by: outlaw Location: bikes on May 14, 2008 at 11:09 AM
They should outlaw bikes on the road. They are way to dangerous!! Alot of the time the people that drive them are careless

Posted by: canttellya Location: denison on May 14, 2008 at 06:01 AM
the police need to just quit chasin the bikes...then everything would be cool...

Posted by: JL Location: Pottsboro on May 13, 2008 at 10:19 PM
We saw this guy race through the Town Center Parking Lot in Sherman without regard for anyone's personal safety. The police and Sheriff's Deputies who were chasing him should be applauded for their professional work. This fool simply needs to be behind bars for a long time. He could have easily caused injuries to those chasing him and innocent bystanders as he raced through the crowded parking lot.
