The accident Thursday morning on FM 1417 in Sherman is just another reminder to be careful in construction zones. Ryan Loyd has more in this Safe Family report.

An early morning motorcycle ride turned into a ride on a Life Star helicopter for Derrick Jones on Thursday. Police say Jones was driving northbound on FM 1417 when the driver of a pick-up truck pulled out from the stop sign and collided with the motorcycle.

Police say the driver of the truck was confused about which lane to be in.

With construction going on, portions of the road have been coned off. That was when officials say to be extra cautious and pay attention when lanes of the road have changed.

Slow down, stay alert, look around, and pay close attention to signs and other drivers.

"Keep in mind motorcycles are hard to see. So many accidents happen because people just didn't see the motorcycle."

The driver of the pick-up truck walked away from the accident. Police say hopefully it was with newfound awareness of safety in construction zones.
