LAKE TEXOMA -- With the flooding from last summer, many boaters couldn't wait for Memorial Day weekend to spend time on the lake. Temperatures were higher than normal for this time of year, so a lot of folks flocked to the water to cool off.

Boaters say it's been hot and windy all weekend. They say they have seen a decent amount of traffic, with the boat ramps constantly in use at High Port Marina. Even with a lot of boating, they say out on the water it has not been too crowded.

While a lot of people begin to pack up and go home on Monday, for some it's the perfect time to have the lake to themselves.

"We've been tubing, on the jet skis. Just riding around on the boat, it's been fun," says Dru Boyd, a boater on Lake Texoma from Oklahoma City.

"It's really hot out, just for being May but we had a lot of fun on the seadoos and stuff," says Autumn Thomas, another boater in from out of town.

For fishermen, they were concerned the water would be too strong to make their catch, but said the fish were still biting.

"All the fishing's done,” says Don Wilborn, a Grayson County resident. “We've got to go do the mowing now," he says, laughing.

Most of the people we spoke said unlike last year, they are optimistic they can keep boating all summer.

Please use your head boaters! Don't drink and drive your boats! And sea doos, jet skis, and whatever else...Use the same sense you hopefully use on the roads.

It is hotter than normal. The normal high is around 86, and we have been about 5 to 10 degrees over that. I am pretty sure that is what they meant.

"Temperatures were higher than normal for this time of year"- isn't it ALWAYS hot in this part of the country in the summer, though? From May-September it's awful (last year being a freak exception).
