FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. -- Officials in Fannin County hope to begin construction of their new jail as early as June 20, with the completion date of 432-bed facility scheduled around August 2009.

Commissioners met earlier this week to discuss the specifics of the privately run jail that will cost around $22.5 million to construct and would employ close to 140 people.

The county will have 150 beds in the jail and would take over control after the first 25 years.

"Privately run jail" means a $6.00hr pay rate, that will boost our economy, being as our taxes we pay here in Fannin County are equivalant to Collin County, Way to Go

What are they going to do with the jail that they have now. They should have thought about enough beds before they built that one. Just a waste of our money.

Great news for Fannin county. More jobs, but I wish we could get other jobs than "jail jobs". That seems to be the main attraction. Oh well, those jobs are better than no jobs I guess.
