ARDMORE, Okla. -- Diesel fuel thefts are apparently on the rise. After a trucker reported last week more than $600 worth of fuel siphoned out of his rig as he slept inside, and on that same night more than $1,200 in diesel was stolen from trucks parked at a local trucking company, another $150 of diesel was reported stolen out of a truck in northwest Ardmore on Tuesday night.
Police advise drivers to buy locking gas caps, and always park overnight in well-lit areas.
"I think there’s been a small rash here recently. Again, with the prices way they are, I would think this kind of crime would go up," Ardmore police Deputy Chief Major Rickey Lawrence says.
Police are investigating the thefts to see if they may be related.
