ARDMORE, Okla. -- It was a rude awakening for several residents of a northeast Ardmore neighborhood as one gunshot after another rang out in the middle of the night Tuesday. People who live nearby say they were jolted out of bed by those shots.

Neighbors of Hillcrest Street Northeast say they heard around a dozen gunshots shortly after 2 o’clock Wednesday morning.

Police say they found shell casings at the scene and do not yet know who may have been responsible for the late night gunplay.

Ryan Ginn, 23, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, but on completely unrelated drug charges. Detectives went to his home to search for a gun, where they found marijuana instead.

Police say they still do not know who may have been the triggerman Tuesday night, but that the gunfire erupted after several people apparently became involved in a dispute outside in the street.

"No gunshot wounds at this point in time. We do know this early in the investigation it's a lot to figure out here," Deputy Chief Major Rickey Lawrence of the Ardmore Police Department says.

No one was hit by those bullets, and detectives do not know what the dispute was all about. They hope to get to the bottom of it all very soon.

If you have any information on who may have been involved, call the Ardmore Police Department.
