We're seeing a little relief at the pump these days, but with gas prices in Texoma still averaging over $3.50 a gallon, many people are looking to trade in gas guzzlers for more fuel efficient cars.
Trucks and large SUV sales decreased during the first half of the year, and car dealers are now recommending smaller cars to anyone looking to buy a new vehicle.
In fact, at Holiday Chevrolet, dealers say small cars like the Cobalt have reached all-time sales records.
Hybrids are still in demand, but dealers say they might not be the smartest choice for everyone.
"They're estimating that it will be $5,000-$10,000 to replace those batteries, and those batteries aren't really friendly for the environment. So sometimes a Hybrid could be a contradictory term," said Matt Johnson, owner of Holiday Chevrolet.
Dealers suggest you research and compare the price of the Hybrid to the amount you would save in gas, and how it would fit with your driving habits.
