ARDMORE, Okla. -- A bit of history was made Thursday in Ardmore as the local chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management was officially formed. The ceremony took place at the SOTC Seminar Center over the lunch hour.

The Society for Human Resource Management, or “SHRM" as it is known, has a nationwide membership of more than 225,000, with hundreds of chapters across the country. Members include local human resource coordinators and business people from around Carter County.

"We plan to develop this group, and it becomes more than just a group meeting and bouncing back questions, networking. It becomes a workforce development tool," chapter president Joline Martin said.

Ardmore's new chapter is #724.
