BONHAM, TX -- A 57-year-old man accused of driving a stolen Suburban through a VA nursing home facility in Bonham early Thursday morning faces even more charges.

James Edward Hope, 57, drove a stolen 1987 Chevrolet Suburban through the double glass doors at the Veterans Center Nursing Home Facility in Bonham. The Suburban made it down a hallway inside before it came to a stop against a wall.

No one inside the center was injured. Hope was transported to a local hospital for examination and subsequently booked into the Fannin County Jail.

VA Center administrative services manager Deloris Clemons says Hope’s motive for his strange actions remain a question.

"I have no idea why somebody would want to do this, absolutely no idea. I can tell you that the Bonham VA Police and the Bonham local police and the local sheriff’s department are doing a very thorough investigation, and that's ongoing as we speak," Clemons said.

The Bonham VA says Hope could be charged with aggrevated assault with a motor vehicle and criminal mischief leading to the destruction of federal property. That's on top of the charges the fannin county sheriff's office has charged him withm including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
