ARDMORE - Today is Election Day in Oklahoma, where the big issue of where to put hundreds of elementary school children has divided the city of Ardmore.
The Ardmore school district is asking voters to approve a $13 million bond issue today to finish a project near the old Charles Evans Elementary.
They have already started phase one, which was approved by voters. But unless they get the rest of the money necessary, only a portion of Ardmore’s elementary kids will get to use that new facility. The rest will stay in the old rundown buildings of Lincoln, Franklin, and Jefferson.
Opponents say they would rather see those old schools renovated and keep their kids in their home neighborhoods.
KXII and KXII.com will have results from today’s election later today.
