Denison, TX - The U-S Marine Corps celebrated their 234th birthday tonight with their annual ball. It was held at the Marine Corps League Texoma Detachment lodge in Denison.

And while there were festivities, special guests and dinner, they also collected toys for needy children.

Miss Texas of 2009, Kristen Blair, was among the honored guests and helped with their Toys for Tots drive. Blair says the toy drive is great way for communities and the Marine Corps to give back.

"That's the cool part about being Miss Texas, you visit the small towns and some of these smaller organizations that do big, big things. And definitely the Marine Corps is doing some awesome things I mean these are the greatest gentlemen you'll ever meet in your life, they're wonderful and they're doing a great thing for their community and for all of Texas."

This marks 62 years the Marine Corps League as participated and organized the Toys for Tots drive for the holiday season.
