POTTSBORO -- Economic development leaders from across the region came to Tanglewood Resort Thursday morning to talk about how to attract new business to the area.

Officials with Workforce Texoma say unemployment is at the lowest level in several years. But that won't stop them from trying to bring more industry and business to the area.

How to better market the area was one of the main objectives of the meetings this morning at Tanglewood resort.

The Texoma Regional Consortium held their second annual regional workforce and economic development summit. Thirteen counties are represented in the consortium, three from Texas and ten from Oklahoma.

The consortium is made possible by a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission. Members also discussed how it could provide better resources for businesses wanting to enter the area and how to create an identity amongst the industry that’s already set up.

Officials say the future for the area is bright, and its starts tomorrow morning in Durant.

A groundbreaking is scheduled for the city's first four story hotel – a Holiday Inn Express.
