JOHNSTON CO., OK -- A jury has awarded three Johnston County families $73 million, after a seven-year lawsuit.

Tuesday, a Johnston County jury ordered Oklahoma engineering firm, Mehlburger Brawley, and Arkansas-based excavation company, B3 Inc., to pay the amount.

The Sikes, Converse and Shirley-Robbins families will receive the $73 million for the 10 million gallons of sewage that was pumped into creeks on their properties back in 2006 in Mill Creek.

One of the plaintiffs, Ava Converse, said "the jury's award solidified what we, the families, knew all along about how wrong this was."
