Carter County commissioners began advertising for bids on new equipment for area fire departments on Monday.
The county plans to purchase 62 sets of bunker gear and 135 sets of wild land fire gear for 12 of the rural departments.
Voters approved a quarter cent sales tax increase last July to make it possible.
So far it's generated close to $300,000.
Bids will be open for three weeks. Then the commissioners will choose the best fit for the county.
