Staying Safe at the Lake

This summer millions of Americans will hit the lakes, but you need to think safety first. KXII witnessed first hand, patrolmen out in full force.

By law, boaters are required to carry enough life vest for everyone on board. And children 12 and younger should wear them at all times.

Also, Oklahoma State law does allow 12-year-olds to drive a boat, however, they must have a boating certificate as well as an adult supervisor.

If you are pulled over by a patrolmen, it’s for your protection. They are required to make sure boats are properly equipped.

If you don’t follow these laws, you might be fined. And with gas prices as high as they are, can you afford it? Even worse, they may ground your boat.

Cooke County officials urge West Nile Virus precautions

Posted: 06/18/2013 - LAKE KIOWA, TX -- With recent rain and warm weather, mosquitoes are back and they're biting. Two human cases of West Nile have already been reported in Texas. One Texoma community is prepping for the virus, and Cooke County officials are urging you to protect yourself.
