Flooding has wreaked havoc on both sides of the Red River. A Kingston family can say they were literally standing "knee deep."
We found a family that actually just moved into their home a month ago. Now they are dealing with the unimaginable.
"In a matter of 15-30 minutes, it was way over its banks."
The Johnston family saw the creek next to their home become a raging river in a matter of hours. Then it became a race against rising waters, but it was too little too late.
"It come up over the porch in the house it come up to your knee caps, everything, just everything, we had we lost."
The strength of the currents devoured a small bridge over what used to be a creek.
Johnny and Heather are expecting a new addition to their family. Heather has been carrying their child for 7 months and the waters destroyed all their baby items. Family friend Lisa Bumpass tried to help.
"We just come out to see if they needed help getting stuff out, but it pretty much got moved out on its own."
Living in their home for only a month, they didn’t think they would leave so soon.
“Well for now, were gonna go and stay at our mother's house, try and get things together, replace our baby stuff, get everything together and start over again."
