Governor Rick Perry has asked President Bush to declare parts of Texoma federal disaster areas.

Federal disaster status means grants and low-interest loans could be provided to those in need of assistance.

The request covers Grayson, Cooke, and Denton Counties in North Texas.

Earlier this week, Perry issued a state disaster proclamation for the area.

Yes, we could use the help, but remember- New Orleans got hit bigtime from the hurricane and the levees giving way. Compared to that, this town got off lucky (and I'm not looking down on those who lost property, homes & in some cases lives in ths flood. God bless them all).
