Sherman teen now in stable condition after wreck on 82

SHERMAN -- Jessica Carney, the Sherman teen critically injured after her car collided with a Chevy Suburban Tuesday afternoon, has been listed in stable, non-critical condition at this time.

She is said to have numerous broken bones but no head trauma.

Police say the 18-year-old's Ford Escort slammed into a Suburban parked on Highway 82 West near Hudgins Road.

The Suburban driver had stopped to help divert traffic around a broken down tanker truck.

Carney had been in critical condition Tuesday evening after the accident. Sherman police say Carney was taken by medical helicopter to Parkland Hospital in Dallas.

Highway 82 was shut down for about half an hour as police cleared the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
