Wheat farmers affected by floods

GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex -- Around $5 million lies lost in the wheat fields of Grayson County.

Clerks at the Dorchester Grain Company say they've seen half the sales they normally see this time of year.

Most farmers will have to sell their wheat as feed instead of flour mills. That's $2 less every bushel.

So far this year, farmers say there has been no quality wheat to come out of Grayson county. Prices have also doubled for fertilizer and other supplies farmers needed this year.

With the continuing rain, farmers are having a hard time getting a look at their fields.

"We’ve looked at it. We've tried to go out there and got our trucks stuck in the mud…it's depressing," said Grayson County farmer Ben Wible.

Wible says because of his losses he will be unable to purchase any of the equipment he needs for next year.
