BONHAM, Tex -- Earlier this week, long-time Fannin County Judge Darryl Hall announced he was resigning. He made that official on Friday.

Fannin County commissioners accepted the resignation at a special commissioner’s court meeting that was followed by a reception to honor the 23 years of service by Judge Hall.

Representative Larry Phillips and other county leaders were on hand. The judge started serving Fannin County as Precinct One Commissioner.

Before he left for good, Judge Hall appointed George "Butch" Henderson from Leonard to replace him.

"I have mixed feelings. I’m a little bit sad that I am leaving, but it’s a great relief to finally get away from under the stress and work that is required for a county judge, especially in a rural counties," said Hall.

Henderson says he’s just looking to pick up where Judge Hall left off.

“I’m not coming in with the mind set to change anything. I’m coming in with the mindset to move things forward where the judge has got them going."

Hall says he will pursue other opportunities in the coming weeks.
