ATOKA, Okla. -- The water at Atoka Lake is raging over the spillway. It’s six inches over the top.
The dam was built in 1959 to supply water to Oklahoma City and some local towns.

It's been three years since it spilled over last.
Stefanie Jones says this is her first time to see the spillway flow over, but she's already come twice this week to see it.
"I didn’t expect for the water to be flowing over the dam so much. It’s really powerful and strong. You can tell because it's so loud,” said Jones.
Atoka police have been patrolling the area all day long on Friday near the spillway.
Officers warn with such high water levels under no circumstances should anyone get in the water.
