MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- Just like their counterparts on the Texas side, most Oklahoma marina operators on Lake Texoma will likely have trouble turning a profit this year.

Marina owners like Billy Bailey have spent thousands turning their marinas into a summer getaway. Now they're losing thousands and just trying to get by.

Twenty-five feet of water is now standing around Alberta Creek. Light poles are just feet from being submerged by rising water.

Those problems washing away summer revenue have marina owners like Little Glasses Resort’s Bill Bailey wondering what comes next.

“It’s real shocking but we'll get used to it. It will get worse before it gets better."

Bailey bought the Little Glasses Resort just two years ago. He has poured in thousands of dollars to make improvements to the area. This week he was planning to unveil this ‘dockumenium’, an apartment on water, and a new wedding reunion hall. Now the floods have changed all his plans.

"It started off a real good Memorial Day with a little rain, and then it just continued to rain. It’s disappointing… it will be a short summer."

So now Steve Monroe of the Texoma Yacht Service and Bailey will have to wait out the flooding and hope for more sunshine or a great Labor Day.

"We need to have a real good Labor Day but I don’t think that’s going to happen," said Monroe.

Bailey has turned away several people wanting to use the new wedding hall.

He hopes to have everything up and running by the end of summer.
