DENISON—Lake Texoma's waters finally made their way down the spillway at Denison Dam on Saturday morning, marking just the third time the lake has flowed over the concrete embankment. The Army Corps of Engineers expect the lake to crest Monday at just over 640' and say they do not expect the lake’s level to rise substantially from its current level.

LAKE LEVELS MONDAY (from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers website):

8 A.M. 640.11'
9 A.M. 640.10'
10 A.M. 640.11'
11 A.M. 640.10'
12 P.M. 640.11'
1 P.M. 640.10'
2 P.M. 640.09'
3 P.M. 640.10'

Water is flowing steadily over the uncontrolled concrete spillway Monday, but not nearly as much as it did the last time it overflowed in 1990. It is expected that about 1-foot of water will flow over the spillway as the lake level rises.

The lake is expected to crest on Monday, July 9th.

People living and working down river of a lake need to be aware of the condition of the lake and the possible impacts releases from those lakes will have on them. The Corps of Engineers will ALWAYS notify community emergency managers as flood control activities take place.

Note: Some news agencies broadcasted bad information about Lake Texoma over the last few days Those unsubstianted reports reported to the public that the dam was going to breach. The reports were false, and none were reported by KXII-TV or KXII.com.
