Lake expected to crest Saturday
Sherman flash flooding
Afternoon thunderstorms on Wednesday left the Lamar-Archer area in south Sherman soaked. The Sherman Fire Department had to close Sunset Boulevard off of Highway 56 as a result.
Luckily, no one was caught in those waters.
Sunset is now back open, and the water has since receded.
At Travis and Highway 75, there was more high water Wednesday afternoon. It was nothing like last month., but still a headache for drivers.
Spillway update
The Corps of Engineers reports the lake elevation is at 640.69 feet. That's at least half a foot above the emergency spillway.
The lake is expected to crest at 640.77 feet at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 14th.
But of course, that could change pending more rain.
The Corps says they think the lake will rise slowly over the next few days.
The water should continue to go over the spillway until July 20th if it crests this Saturday.
