SHERMAN – The acting city manager of Sherman became the official city manager on Tuesday. George Olson was named the permanent man for the job Monday night by the city council after serving as acting manager for two and a half months.
The Sherman native has 20 years experience working with the city and was voted in unanimously.
Olson says the past few months with recent flooding has been trial by fire, but he expects the city to continue to move forward.
"I’m very excited about working with this council. We share a lot of desire for the future of this community. They're a council that cares about this community, and that's important to me," said Olson.
Olson says the budget this year looks very different than past years’. Some of the things include expansion of parks, growth around Highway 289 and a reduction in property taxes.
