ATOKA, Okla. -- Deputies say Stephen James Kemp was arrested on Monday when they found thirty-nine marijuana plants growing on his property in Atoka.

Authorities say they were initially at the man's home investigating a call of shots fired at the residence. No one was reportedly injured, but the home owner was said to be acting suspicious which prompted deputies to investigate.

Kemp is currently in custody at the Atoka County Jail facing numerous charges including cultivation of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a firearm.

Yeah, That's just what I want is the police sneaking around peaking in the dopeheads windows trying to bust some hippie for smoking a joint. At the same time let's let the child molesters, rapist, & murders run amuck. Makes perfect sense to me Bo from Lone Grove. Why should we care if someone wants to smoke this stuff (and I don't smoke dope mind you) - they'll die of cancer sooner. I agree with the legalizing of pot. Tax it & control it & let our law enforcement concentrate their efforts & resources on real crime.

My God, are you people dumb. Having marijuana is a crime and punishable by a fine and prison. For you people that says to legalize it needs to have the police setting on your front porch, because you more or less have or sell it. Build bigger prisons to hold these crap dope heads.

It is true that marijuana is illegal, with that said I would like to remind all citizens that our prisons are overflowing with killers, rapists and child molesters that are being released or parolled at an alarming rate due to overcrowding. Who would you want back on the streets? A child molester or a pot head? Remember as U.S. tax payers we are providing all prisoners with room and board. I say away with the hardened criminals and save our money for education. The doper could serve community service.

Ok, valid points...but why let the government subsidize yet another thing we should have freedom to do anyway. Everything they get their hands on turns to corruption. It is an old school way of thinking, but the only way to have true freedom....The states would regulate how they saw fit truely based on the peoples wishes. i.e. Alaska, Colorado, and some more I don't know of.....I don't even smoke the stuff, but it is a free, liberty issue beyond everything else. The government is here to protect our liberties, not protect from "terror", "weed", "alcohol".....look how well they are controlling alcohol....many ruined lives far beyond a marijuana.

Well, now MR Mork you must be a dork! I wouldn't want to meet someone who has had a 6 pack or been smoking dope on the highway. Both are illegal on the streets. And, MR Z,,You must be a doper also if, you want to grow it and make it legal. As far as i'm concern, i don't want people walking down the street smoking dope or for that matter drinking beer in front or around my child. You 2 need to grow up or keep your stupid comments to yourself.
