ADA, Okla. – New developments in the case of the 17-year-old boy who ended up dead from a stabbing by his mother earlier this month. Now, that Ada mother, who claimed she accidentally stabbed her son to death, has been charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.

Initial reports indicated Connie Haines was "playfully" waving the knife at her husband when her son, Chris Carpenter, unexpectedly walked up behind her and was stabbed.

Prosecutors say they now believe Haines was threatening to kill her husband with the knife when Carpenter tried to break up the altercation and was stabbed.

Haines faces from four years to life in prison if convicted.
