Lodge doing well in Ardmore

ARDMORE, Okla. -- Unlike some area resorts affected by flooding, the Lake Murray Lodge is still open.

Unlike the Lake Texoma Lodge, all 52 rooms at Lake Murray Lodge and 56 cabins are still open and still bringing in plenty of business until plans with developers are finalized.

However when the scheduled construction starts at the end of this year, 25 other cabins at lake will be removed, but Ardmore Development Authority officials are saying they have made significant progress in transforming the lodge into a big time vacation spot.

They are still ironing out final details, but so far development officials tell us that early last month lodge developers toured Lake Murray and had a chance to get some input from business representatives.

Earlier this month, Ardmore officials talked with possible hotels like Marriott and Holiday Inn, and chamber officials hope to have plans and drawings ready by the end of September.

"Currently, developers made application for franchise because that national brand brings exposure to the facility,” said Ardmore Development Authority vice president Mita Bates.
