Books-a-Million guests got a treat on Saturday. Author Rickey Pittman was there to sign his new children's book: Jim Davis: A Black Orphan in the Confederate White House.
Pittman, who lives in Monroe, LA, tells the true story of a young black orphan during the Civil War, who's rescued by the Confederate President Jefferson Davis. The family fell in love with the boy and kept him for two years inside the Confederate White House. Pittman says it's a unique story and one he thought would be great to tell in a children’s book.
The book of course is on sale at Books-a-Million.
