SHERMAN – Smokers in Sherman may have to walk a few more feet before they light up. County officials ruled today that smokers must be forty feet or more away from county buildings before lighting up.
Benches and trash cans have now been moved forty feet away from these buildings.
"Today we took the official step that solidified that decision that smoking would be done in designated areas, and today we picked those designated areas. They will need to be at least forty feet from the buildings," Grayson County Judge Drue Bynum said Monday.
Officials also voted in favor of designated smoking areas at the court house and justice center.
