TISHOMINGO, Okla. -- City officials are taking the first steps to improving the city’s streets and water utilities.

The city council approved two topics on their agenda on Monday. The first is a three-quarter sales tax to help pay for a new water tower to increase water pressure in the north-eastern part of the city and improvements to their water plant.

The council also approved a quarter cent sales tax increase to improve the roads in Tishomingo.

City officials have set October 9th for citizens to vote on the council’s approval.

If both proposals pass, the sales tax will go into effect January 1, 2008.
