Drunk driver gets 40 years for killing Bonham couple

FANNIN COUNTY, Tex. -- A man convicted of driving drunk and killing a Bonham couple was sentenced on Friday. Benjamin Floyd Lewis will serve 20 years in prison for each case of intoxication manslaughter.

The Fannin County District Attorney's Office says on November 15, 2006, Lewis was driving on Highway 121 at more than 100 miles per hour. They say he was just south of Trenton when he hit Jose Manuel Solis and Ofelia Solis head on.

Lewis had a blood alcohol level of more than three times the normal limit.

The Solis’ left behind 6 children.
