SHERMAN, Tex. – More businesses are popping up in Sherman. Now a new shopping strip is set to open at FM 1417 and Taylor. Eight shops are moving into a building that was last occupied by Foxworth, a building supply store.
It's been empty for the last eight months. Now Spavinaw Development has stepped in to bring growth to that area of Sherman. Builders say they've already rented out seventy percent of the space to businesses. A bank, a mortgage company, and a real estate and insurance company will be some of the first to move in.
Local developer Jason Sofey says, "We’d really like to have some more eating establishments. We're trying to get some restaurants over here, some home-oriented retail."
Builders say they plan to build a second strip that will house a restaurant and more stores.
