DURANT, Okla. -- Business leaders in Durant are hoping to attract back-to-school shoppers to their stores as this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are tax-free days across Oklahoma.
Many businesses are offering special promotions in addition to the tax-free shoes and clothes.
In Durant, retailers are offering a four-dollar movie package, discounted massages, and additional sales on their products.
Oklahoma senator Jay Paul Gumm says, "It’s going to be a real tax break. Out of all the tax cuts we've passed these years, this will be the one that you will actually be able to see at the cash register."
The Durant Chamber of Commerce plans to kick off the tax-free weekend on Thursday with a rally in market square.
