ARDMORE, Okla. -- A Wilson man is being held in the Carter County Jail in Ardmore after scuffling with neighbors and shooting his own dog.
The Wilson police chief says J.D. Shivers was jailed Sunday night after his neighbors called police to say he was shooting into their yard and at his dog.
Witnesses told police that Shivers would shoot at his dog, then call it back to him, then shoot at it again before eventually killing the dog.
The dog was reportedly disposed of by the time officers arrived at the home Sunday night.
Shivers is being held on complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and other offenses.
