DENISON, Tex. -- The expansion on Highway 691 now means the Denison Fire Department could be on the move.
Denison fire Chief Gordon Weger says once businesses and the new Texoma Medical Center facility hit that area, they plan to either revamp the old station on Spur 503 or build a brand new facility.
The chief says he has voiced his concerns to city officials for the funding, but nothing has been finalized.
"This is going put a different need on that part of our response area, and with the old station we have now, we won’t be able to house the new type of equipment that's going to be necessary for us to provide service for that area," said Denison fire chief Gordon Weger.
The chief says they have hired three new firefighters, but would like to add even more as commercial growth continues to expand in Denison.
