ARDMORE, Okla. -- Some residents in Ardmore were left high and dry for a brief moment Friday because of two water main breaks.
The public works authority says a six inch and twelve inch main broke at around two o'clock Friday morning. The smaller main broke off Commerce and Maxwell Street. The larger main broke further south near the Braum’s.
Those who repaired the mains believe the sudden hot weather is to blame.
"Soil and clays are shrinking and pulling away from the pipe. Its getting hot again," said Blake Rudd at Ardmore Public Works.
The problems were fixed around ten Friday morning, but some people went without water for about six hours.
