SHERMAN, Tex. -- A car crash at FM 1417 and Washington Street occurred just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday and sent at least three more area residents to the hospital.

Sherman Police say a northbound vehicle and a southbound vehicle collided on FM 1417 at the intersection of 1417 & Washington Street.

Both drivers and at least one passenger were taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they're still investigating the cause of the crash, but that traffic is flowing normally again.

What do you think contributes most to auto accidents?

In this "Hurry-up and wait" world of ours, it never surprises me the excuses people come up with to justify accidents. I worked on the Central Expressway job for five years and it always amazed me the way people drive to get from one place to the other. No mater if there was one lane or four lanes open, they were quick to pass you up to get two hundred yards ahead. The same goes for me out here in Iraq, everyone is in a hurry to go no where. Believe me, this war will be here, as well as where ever you are going back home. Slow down, leave early, get off the phone, put your make-up on at home instead of in the car and pay attention to your surroundings. A defensive driver may not be immune to accidents but at least he or she will lower the percentages of such an occurance. That is why I live in the country back home, so I can enjoy life at the pace I want to. Life is too short to die, especially because of incompetence.

Hey people, quit laying blame and start thinking about the people who were injured. Probably not EVERYONE in the wreck was on the phone. Some of them might have been children. I think the point is, that you are getting away from the story to debate technically a "non-issue". Prayers to the family and individuals injured.

Dubya, I am not blaming cell phone I am blaming the people that talk on them have enough sense to get off them while you are driving, I am sure you are one of these people that use them that sit in the passing lane and talk on them get off to the shoulder pull over and talk all you want

So, I read the whole story and unless I missed something then all of you are just GUESSING that this wreck had something to do with a cell phone. Maybe the sun was in their eyes or something happened that was out of their controll. I just don't get why the argueing over something that may not have even been a factor. You are all correct in that the story does not mention a cell phone. Those comments may be in response to the poll question. -Staff

I AGREE WITH THE OTHER PERSONS COMMENTS,,,CELL PHONES ARE A PROBLEM, BUT HAVE THEY EVEN MADE IT A LAW YET TO NOT TALK ON THEM WHILE DRIVING? AND THEN YOU HAVE THE VERY SLOW PEOPLE IN THE LEFT LANE THE PASSING LANE OR THE PEOPLE WHO TURN WITHOUT USING THEIR SIGNALS...

It is the person's fault. Do not BLAME CELLPHONES. In today's world it is always someone or something elses' fault and not the own individual!! That is wrong! If you are responsible enough to drive & talk on cell phone that is ok, if you are not, then dont. Blame the person and not the cellphone. So you wanna make a law to Outlaw cellphones when driving: WELL ARE YOU GOING TO OUTLAW OTHER DISTRACTIONS WHEN DRIVING SUCH AS EATING, READING A MAP, CHANGING RADIO STATION, FUMBLING AROUNG THE CAR TO CHANGE CD, TURN AROUND TO DISIPLINE KIDS, APPLY MAKEUP, SHAVE, ETC.??? WHAT ABOUT THOSE THINGS????? are you going to make laws against those things too??? DO NOT BLAME CELLPHONES; BLAME THE PERSON!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE???? If you cant use a cellphone and drive at the same time, then dont. If you can drive responsibly and talk on cellphone, then do it.
