MARSHALL COUNTY, Okla. -- Marshall County officials are already looking forward to labor day as a chance to make up for summer revenue lost to the floods, and they're using a new tool to help pump money back into the economy. It's called Destination Texoma.
When chamber leaders heard about the website Destination Texoma, they immediately saw its value in trying to get Marshall County back on its feet starting over Labor Day weekend.
With September just two weeks away, officials from the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce are trying to draw people back to the lake, and they say labor day weekend is the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Area business leaders say the nationwide attention summer floods drew to the area kept lake-goers away, which they believe dampened business more than the rain
Last week during a chamber meeting in Durant, the Marshall County chamber joined the new Destination Texoma, a website that showcases area attractions and outdoor activities.
Chamber members say they hope this draws visitors to Marshall County marinas and hotels.
Chamber officials are already looking forward to the future, and they hope this website will jump start the county’s economy once again, reviving area businesses
Any Marshall County business can join the site. To learn how, contact the chamber of commerce.
