SHERMAN -- The Sherman Chamber of Commerce welcomed more than seventy new teachers to the Sherman Independent School District on Friday.
The new teachers were joined by city and state leaders including U.S. Congressman Ralph Hall, who gave the keynote address at the luncheon.
Organizers say it’s the least they can do for this group of people who give so much to the community.
"We need to be able to tell them that they are important whenever we can, and as many times as we can, and as many possible times as we can," said Sherman Chamber president Traci Norton.
Classes begin August 27th in both Sherman and Denison.
