Safe Family: Medication and Your Children (at School)

It's important to consult your school district for any guidelines and regulations regarding their medication while at school.

School's require that the nurse handle any and all medication that your child needs during the day, even over-the-counter.

Brenna Kindell with The Medicine Shoppe in Denison says, "It's for your child's safety. They want to make sure it's given correctly and to only the proper person."

The AAP Policy website says, "School districts are required to provide medication at school. Many children and adolescents with special health care needs are able to attend school because of the effectiveness of their medication."

You can check out the Guidelines for the Administration of Medication in School website with the information stated above by following this link.
