COOKE COUNTY, TEX. -- A man in Gainesville has been diagnosed with the West Nile Virus. It was confirmed by that man's doctor early Tuesday.
The health department says they have no prior cases of the virus in Cooke County, although 33 people died from West Nile in the U.S. last year.
The sample from the case in Gainesville has been sent to a state lab.
The health department says they will have the results later this week.
Health officials say information on the man's name, age, and condition is confidential and cannot be released.
